Erie County residents will soon be able to drop their glass bottles and jars off at 15 locations throughout Erie County for free of charge recycling.

This pilot program is made possible through a public-private partnership between Prism Glass Recycling, the Erie County Recycling Program, the Erie Area Council of Governments, CAP Glass Recycling and the Glass Recycling Foundation.

Under the pilot program, all colors of food jars & beverage bottles, canning and candle jars, perfume and cologne bottles are accepted. Residents are asked to rinse the containers of all residue, i.e. food, drink, oil, wax, etc., and remove the caps and lids, while labels can stay on.  There is no need for color sorting.
