Erie Area Trail Network Project with Emerge 2040
Over 2/3rd of the Erie County residents are overweight according to Erie Vital Signs. EACOG members and Emerge 2040 want to help to combat this issue in our community through increased use of park and recreational trails. EACOG members also want to learn about and share the use of recreation amenities in neighboring communities.
The purpose of the Greater Erie Regional Trails project is to promote the awareness and use of all recreational trails throughout Erie County. Phase one of this project will include the creation of an identifiable logo and the installation of approximately 25 guideway signs to identify trail locations to both residents and visitors. Phase two will include the development of a website and app to organize and inventory the network of trails and to market and promote these wonderful resources. Future phases include additional signage locations, trail development and trail connections.
Thanks in part to a Multi-municipal ECGRA grant this project will kickoff in the Fall of 2016.
