Current Programs of the EACOG

The Erie Area Council of Governments currently offers the following Programs to its Municipal Members:

 

Municipal Training Series:

The EACOG launched a workshop training series on April 20, 2016 with a Zoning Hearing Board member workshop. There were 57 individuals in attendance representing 19 municipalities.  95% of participants surveyed found the workshop to be informative.

Since then the EACOG has held ten workshops on a variety of topics including: 

Planning Commissions, Comprehensive Planning, CoStars Purchasing, Elected Auditors, Municipal Budgeting and Incident Management

Joint Bidding/Purchasing:

The role of the EACOG'S Joint Bidding Committee is to combine the participant’s anticipated annual material requirement, to agree on a standard bidding specifications acceptable to all participating municipalities and to seek competitive bids for all items jointly, in an effort to receive a lower, more equitable price for all participating local governments. 

Joint Bid solicitation and administration for Road Materials, General Items and Gas and Diesel Fuel bids. Bid preparation and assistance for multi-municipal projects and purchases.

Resulting in significant savings due to bulk pricing for all and bid process administration.

Non-member municipalities are welcome to inquire about the cost of participating.

Accepting recommendations for new products, services and materials to include in bid solicitation

 

Erie County Signing Region Trust

The Erie County Signing Region Trust (ECSRT) is contracted by PennDot to administer the tourist oriented Right of Way signage program for State Routes and local roads throughout Erie County. 

 

Joint Cable FranchiseAgreement Negotiation

The EACOG contracted with the Cohen Law Group to re-negotiate the expiring Cable Franchise agreements on behalf of 14 municipalities. This service remains available as needed in the future. 

All Erie County municipalities, school district and authorities are welcome to inquire about the cost of non-member participation in any and all EACOG progams.   

The EACOG is regularly developing new programs to meet the needs of its membership.
